In order to make Wartburg's underperforming program successful, Coach had to instill a whole new culture in his wrestlers.
Coach taught his teams that they needed to be willing to go the extra mile for themselves and for each other. It was for the good of the team. Whether the players didn't want to, or if they didn't feel like it, was irrelevant. You "Do It Anyway."
By changing the very foundation of his team's culture, Coach achieved what few others have. He had achieved "Sustained Success," over two decades.
In 1994 Coach Miller came into an underperforming wrestling program at Wartburg College that hadn't won a Conference Championship in 15 years.
Under Coach Miller, the wrestling program was able to win 21 Conference Championships IN A ROW. They placed 1st or 2nd in the NATION 18 of his 22 years. That run included 10 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS!
